THE third Chinese-made train set was deployed by the Metro Rail Transit line 3 (MRT-3) on Friday to service commuters, almost five months after the deployment of a similar train.
The MRT-3 management said the third train, acquired from Chinese firm CRRC Dalian Co., has completed its 1,000-kilometer commissioning test.
The train would service MRT-3 passengers until March 11, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
βThe said train set has yet to complete the necessary 150 hours of revenue service deployment as part of the reliability, availability, maintainability and safety validation,β the MRT said in a statement.
The first train set was added to the MRT-3 service on October 27, while the second was deployed on December 11.
The first two trains are set for permanent deployment on the MRT-3 line this March, Transportation Undersecretary for Railways Timothy John Batan said recently.
The government in 2016 purchased 48 trains from the Chinese-government owned firm to be used for the MRT-3, but they have been idle due to issues of incompatibility like weight, signaling and maintenance.
