MANILA, Philippines — A block of suspected cocaine was found floating by a fisherman in the waters of Baras town in Catanduanes on Thursday, police said.
A report from the Catanduanes Provincial Police Office on Friday said fisherman John Anthony Tabinas found the block of white crystalline granules that was inside a black packaging.
Police said Tabinas was fishing at the waters off Baras when he found the suspected cocaine which he later surrendered to authorities.
Police said the suspected cocaine block will be tested at a laboratory.
If confirmed that the block is indeed cocaine, the discovery will add to the more than P800 million worth of cocaine that were separately recovered off the country’s eastern seaboard since February 10.
Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde earlier said the cocaine found in the country’s waters could be meant for delivery to Australia. /muf
