With a little over two months remaining before the May 2019 elections, Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go broke into the top three in the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey for the race to the Senate.

The SWS survey, conducted from Feb. 25 to 28, 2019, showed Go receiving the approval of 47 percent of respondents to claim solo third place.

This reflected a continuous improvement from his 5th to 6th place ranking with 41 percent conducted by the same survey firm in Jan. 23 to 26, 2019 and coming from a 15th to 16th ranking back in December 2018.

Reelectionist Sen. Grace Poe-Llamanzares retained her lead in the SWS survey, followed by fellow reelectionist Sen. Cynthia Villar.

Former senator Pilar Juliana “Pia” Cayetano, who placed third in January, dropped to fourth spot.

Cayetano was followed by Manuel “Lito” Lapid, reelectionists Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, Ma. Lourdes Nancy Binay and Jose “Jinggoy” Esrtrada.

Completing the top 12 were former Interior secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas 2nd, releectionist senators Benigno “Bam” Aquino 4th, Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and former Philippine National Police chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.

Go said he was humbled by his consistent rise in survey results. He thanked the people for trusting in his capability and sincerity in serving the nation.

You serve as my inspiration and strength to try to make the Duterte brand of service reach a greater number of Filipinos),” he added.

Go reiterated his gratitude to his mentor, President Rodrigo Duterte, who had vouched for his integrity and endorsed his candidacy.

“Malaki ang tiwala ng ating mga kababayan kay Pangulong Duterte, na pinagsilbihan ko sa loob ng mahigit na 20 taon, kaya’t hindi matatawaran ang tulong ng kanyang pagsuporta sa aking kandidatura (Our countrymen trust President Rodrigo Duterte, whom I had served for more than 20 years, such that his support for my candidacy cannot be underestimated),” he said as he vowed to support programs and policies of the Duterte administration.

“Ipagpapatuloy po natin ang tunay na pagbabago na sinimulan ng ating Pangulong Duterte (We will continue the genuine change under President Duterte),” he added.
Despite his strong showing in the survey, Go said it was not time to rest, adding he would work double-time to pursue his campaign and help the unfortunate, particularly fire victims.

“Tulad po ng pangako ko, kahit saang eskinita papasukin ko para matulungan ang mga nangangailangan (As I promised, I will enter the smallest alley to help those in need),” he added.

Go has been visiting fire victims to help them in between his busy campaign schedule.

“Mas importante sa akin ang makatulong at makapagserbisyo sa tao, higit pa sa pangangampanya (Helping and serving people is more important than campaigning),” he said.

Meanwhile, Go reiterated his appeal to his supporters to refrain from posting campaign materials in unauthorized areas and to follow the law.

It would even be better, according to Go, if his supporters would use funds intended for his campaign materials for construction materials, like plywood, and other relief goods for fire victims.

He reiterated his commitment to abide by election laws and play fair.

“Clean and honest elections have always been the trademark of the President even when he was still mayor of Davao City and it will be the hallmark of this administration.
At saan man ako dalhin ng tadhana, manalo man o hindi, lalaban tayo ng patas at naaayon sa batas (Wherever destiny brings me, a win or a loss, we’ll fight fair and according to the law),” Go said.

In the same SWS survey, Francis Tolentino, Go’s fellow PDP-Laban candidate for senator and former Malacañang adviser for political affairs, received the biggest increase in ratings as he jumped to 14th place from his previous ranking of 22nd in January.
