Sara Duterte slams ‘Otso’ bets’ ‘lies’ anew

MANILA, Philippines – Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio maintained that senatorial candidates of the opposition coalition Otso Diretso are liars and are using misleading and inaccurate statements against other candidates and President Rodrigo Duterte.
“They use inaccurate, misleading statements and even direct lies when they attack other candidates or President Duterte and they know they are stretching the truth and yet they deny that they are lying,” she said in a statement sent to reporters Wednesday.
“That is the reason why they should not attack other candidates about honesty because they are themselves liars. And this is the truth. And this shows in their dismal performance in the race, people know they are not truthful,” she added.
Duterte Carpio was defending her statement that a candidate’s honesty must not be an election issue in the midterm elections after being asked about the supposed government funds used by former presidential aide Christopher “Bong’ Go for his senatorial bid.
“All candidates have been telling lies,that’s why honesty should not be an issue,” she said on Wednesday.

Duterte-Carpio also said she is helping the “black hole” opposition side when she stated that honesty should not be an election for candidates.
“I’m helping the black hole candidates dig themselves out of their own hole when I say honesty should not be an issue,” Duterte-Carpio said. / gsg
