Police arrested a 28-year-old man for cracking a bomb joke while at the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Gil Puyat Station Monday morning.

Police Colonel Noel Flores, Pasay City Police chief, identified the suspect as Saber Akbar, staying at the security barracks of Taft Centrale Exchange Mall on Gil Puyat Avenue in Pasay City.

Investigation showed that Akbar and a companion arrived the LRT Gil Puyat Station around 8:58 a.m.

Lady guard Grace Paez was inspecting the bags of train passengers when the alarm of the metal detector sounded after Akbar’s companion passed through the machine, police said.

Upon hearing the alarm, Akbar told Paez that “May bomba ‘yan sa bag niya,” prompting the guards to arrest him.

Akbar was brought to the Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch (SIDMB) of the Pasay City Police and will be charged with violation of the Anti-Bomb Joke Law. (Michelle Guillang)
