Fire hits disposal area in Camp Aguinaldo, damage estimated at P200,000

A disposal division inside Camp Aguinaldo, the military’s general headquarters in Quezon City, caught on fire on Monday, damaging equipment estimated at P200,000, a spokesman said.
Col. Noel Detoyato said the fire at the Property Reutilization and Disposal Division (PRDD) area, which is under the supply unit of the military’s headquarter support command, started at 2:36 p.m. and reached the first alarm.
Two fire teams inside the camp immediately responded, with the help from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), fire brigade volunteers and 20 additional fire trucks.
At 3:29 p.m., Detoyato said the fire was declared “out.”
The cause of fire is under investigation although it may have started at the stockpile of equipment near the PRDD office, Detoyato said.
Three acacia trees surrounding the bhilding were also burnt during the fire. DEMPSEY REYES
