Chelssie Fernandez was diagnosed with acute B-cell lymphoblastic leukemia in 2016 after she had just learned to walk.
“She was only 2 years old when she suddenly lost her appetite for food. She started losing weight,” her mother, Nerissa, said.
Chelssie’s condition deteriorated to the point where she had difficulty walking and sitting.
“I thought she had a fracture so we brought her to the orthopedic hospital. The laboratory tests were negative so the doctors referred us to a pediatrician at Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) for a bone marrow test. Initial results showed she had anemia because her platelet count kept decreasing by the day,” Nerissa added.
Nerissa and her family live in San Francisco del Monte, Quezon City. Her husband, Conrado, drives a tricycle and is the sole breadwinner.
Now aged 5, Chelssie is undergoing 14 rounds of chemotherapy at PCMC. Her 11th session is on March 29. Each session costs P16,500.
“Please help us. My husband earns P200 a day. It is not even enough for our family of four,” Nerissa said.
She can be reached at 0998-4383500. Donations can be deposited in her Landbank account (Nerissa Fernandez, account number 0696 0950 86).
