The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration does not see typhoon “Wutip” posing direct threat to any part of the country.
Wutip slowed down while maintaining its strength around noon yesterday.
It was estimated at 1,875 kilometers east of Visayas or outside the country’s area of responsibility.
PAGASA said the typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 225 kph and is moving northwest at 10 kph.
Wutip has a slim chance of entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of yesterday. But PAGASA is not discounting the possibility that the weather disturbance may still change its track.
This morning, PAGASA said Wutip is expected to be 1,725 kms east of Catarman, Northern Samar, and 1,735 kms east of Legazpi City tomorrow morning. Wednesday morning, it will be 1,570 kms east of Virac, Catanduanes.
Today, PAGASA said the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will be the prevailing weather system throughout the country.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies will affect Aurora, Quezon, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Masbate, Biliran, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, Southern Leyte, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies. (Ellalyn V. Ruiz)
