MANILA, Philippines–Ahead of the commemoration of the 33rd year of the Edsa People Power Revolt on Monday, former President Fidel V. Ramos launched on Friday “Silver Linings: The Continuing Saga of the 1986 Edsa People Power Revolution” at the Kalayaan Hall at Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City.
Silver Linings is a tribute to the heroism, bravery and dedication of the Philippine National Police’s Special Action Force (SAF) troopers, as well the founders who made this historical book possible.
“This updated edition of Silver Linings seeks to instill in the Filipinos that, as we go about our daily tasks, we must do our best in whatever we think, say and do; that our greatest duty is to rise to life’s challenges as responsible citizens; and that we must strive always to see justice done, the rule of law upheld, civic responsibility performed, and national teamwork enhanced,” said Ramos, who, along with then Defense Secretary Juan Ponce Enrile, led the revolt in 1986 that brought down a dictator.
Authored by the Ramos family biographer Melandrew T. Velasco, together with former Interior Secretary Rafael Alunan and the first SAF Director Reynaldo Velasco, “Silver Linings” follows through where the first edition ended in May 2012 under former President Benigno S. Aquino III until the first three years of the Duterte presidency.
