A severe tropical storm is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the state-run weather bureau said on Thursday.
The weather disturbance, with international name “Wutip,” was spotted 2,775 kilometers east of Mindanao, moving at a speed of 29 kilometers per hour (kph) with maximum sustained winds of 105 kph and gustiness of up to 130 kph, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Pagasa, however, expects Wutip to change direction next week and recurve towards a northeast direction and may not enter the PAR.
Localized thunderstorms may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers in Mindanao that could cause possible flash floods during severe thunderstorms.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers may be experienced in the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Aurora province and Quezon province.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies.
