HOW far would you go for love? Are you willing to take on a major career shift for it?
Well, that is what Matteo Guidicelli did recently, actually.
In an interview, the actor-singer candidly admitted Sarah Geronimo, his girlfriend of five years, was a huge factor in his recent decision to transfer to Viva Artist Agency.
He has been with ABS-CBN’s Star Magic for eight long years, prior.
Ultimately, Matteo followed his heart.
“Actually, I love them (Star Magic)… but it’s true, I love sarah more,” he said, sharing how he felt like it’s time for him and Sarah to be in “one boat together.”
The 28-year-old actor clarified he has no bad blood with Star Magic.
“I’m very thankful to everything they’ve done to me. Without them, I wouldn’t be here. It wasn’t an easy decision but this is really important for me,” he said.
Of course, Sarah knew all about it and according to Matteo, the Pop Princess was “very supportive” of his decision.
“I’m 28 years old already. To be honest, I feel like this is one of the best decisions I’ve (made), not just for me, but for my family also. With the help of boss Vic (del Rosario, Viva head honcho), we came to the conclusion that this is the best place for me.”
He added, “Boss Vic is so supportive, he laid down plans and all and we are both convinced and decided about it, and, here we are.”
In the past years, Matteo and Sarah have avoided doing projects together, circumventing the possibility of them being accused of just “using” each other for fame’s sake.
When asked if his stance on the matter changed, Matteo impishly replied, “Please, tell the management.”
While he revealed future projects are still being discussed, Matteo hopes to prioritize his music. He also wants to work with other Viva Artists, naming among them Anne Curtis, Yassi Pressman, Nadine Lustre, and Cristine Reyes.
When asked about his relationship with Sarah, Matteo said, “It has matured. It’s not yet perfect and it will never be perfect but we’ve been learning so much from each other. I hope we became more efficient together soon.”
We wanted to ask what he meant with “efficient” but Matteo went on to laud his girlfriend for being a “strong, independent woman.”
There are no wedding plans yet, though.
“It’s a long time dream goal. Hopefully one day,” he smiled.
Matteo denied rumors he already proposed to Sarah. The issue came about after several netizens noticed her wearing a ring, prompting speculations they are already engaged.
Asked if they already have plans for Valentine’s, Matteo said, “It’s a surprise.” (REGS PARUNGAO)
