Firearms seized from Masbate mayor, vice mayor

Unlicensed high-caliber firearms were seized from the mayor and vice mayor of Butuan, Masbate on Wednesday, the police said.
Police operatives raided the house and resort of the Mayor Charmax Jan Altajeros Yuson and his father, Vice Mayor Charlie Yuson III in Barangay (village) Canvañez.
They recovered a Bushmaster M16 rifle, a baby Armalite, three pistols, ammunition, a hand grenade, and a fragmentation grenade.
The Yusons were not present during the operation.
Chief Supt. Arnold Ardiente, director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Bicol, said they received tips that the Yusons were keeping unlicensed firearms and maintaining a private armed group.
The Yusons will face charges for illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
