The Bureau of Immigration (BI) detained on Tuesday night the Chinese student who threw taho (soy drink) at a police officer on Saturday, February 9, hours after posting a P12,000-bail for direct assault charges.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente issued a mission order to gain custody of Zhang Jiale, 23, who has been charged as an undesirable alien for “posing a risk to public interest,” BI spokesperson Dana Krizia Sandoval said in a statement.
Zhang is being held at the BI Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City while awaiting her deportation.
On Tuesday, the BI said it found probable cause to deport Zhang.
Also on Tuesday, the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office found basis to indict Zhang for direct assault and disobedience to an agent of authority and unjust vexation. CATHERINE A. MODESTO
