Valentine’s Day Has Become Extra Special For The Philippines’ Danny Kingad
Danny “The King” Kingad’s preparation for the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix is already underway, but that does not mean he is ready to skip Valentine’s Day altogether.
He has plenty of reasons to celebrate “the day of hearts,” as it would be the first time the 23-year-old is celebrating the occasion as a father.
Late last year, his partner Janine gave birth to their first-born child Adriel, and Kingad wants to celebrate things with his son every chance he gets.
“Things have been totally different since he came [into] my life. I feel very blessed to have him,” Kingad says.
“This Valentine’s Day will definitely is the best Valentine’s of my life since I will celebrate it with Adriel.”
The soft-spoken flyweight contender has always been fond of celebrating Valentine’s, whether it be through a grand or simple gesture.
For “The King,” just a mere message from his friends and family members already mean a lot to him.
“I’m always excited every time Valentine’s Day comes near because, on that day, I can celebrate, show, and tell my family how much I love them, even in the simplest way,” he explains.
“A simple message means a lot. Making people feel that they’re special, for me, is the real essence of this special day.”
Kingad might be working around the clock now as a potential showdown with longtime pound-for-pound king Demetrious Johnson could be right around the corner, but the Filipino promises to make time in order to celebrate Valentine’s Day with his loved ones.
“Since my victory in Manila, we’ve been training non-stop for my next match,” he says.
“But despite that, I still make sure that I have time to for my family and loved ones. February 14 is another chance to show how important they are to me.
