Jiale Zhang is booked at the Mandaluyong City police station after throwing a cup of taho (soybean desert) at a police officer.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) will file a deportation case against the Chinese student who assaulted a police officer with a cup of taho for being a “risk to public interest.”

Zhang Jiale, 23, was nabbed for “unjust vexation, direct assault, and disobedience to authority” by the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday after throwing taho (soy pudding) at Police Officer 1 William Cristobal at the MRT-3 Boni Station when she was denied entry because of the ban on liquid.

“Our legal team saw that there was probable cause to file a deportation case against her,” BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said in a statement.

“The BI can file a case motu proprio, especially since there are photos showing what happened, ” Sandoval added.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente described the incident as an “utter display of disobedience and arrogance against a person of authority.”

“The bureau will not tolerate such acts, as this shows disrespect to the country,” the BI chief said. CATHERINE A. MODESTO
