Student held for splashing ‘taho’ on cop

Police yesterday Saturday arrested a female foreign student after she splashed a cup of the popular local snack “taho” at a rookie policeman at the Boni Ave. station of the Metro Rail Transit in Mandaluyong City.
Director Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office, said Chinese Jiale Zhang got mad when she was asked to consume the taho she was holding before she would be allowed entry at the MRT station.
“She was arrested and is now facing charges,” said Eleazar.
Eleazar said the incident started at around 8:30 a.m. when Zhang was barred by a security guard from entering the MRT station over the “no liquid” policy now being implemented at the mass transport system as part of the security measures following the Jolo, Sulu cathedral blast last month.
A lot of netizens lashed out at the MRT management when it started to confiscate bottled water and even perfume from passengers.
The security guard on duty decided to turn over the matter to PO1 William Cristobal since Zhang reportedly started to become unruly and kept on insisting to go inside with her taho.
Cristobal explained why it is prohibited to carry liquid inside the station. But to his surprise, Zhang reportedly splashed the taho at him. “It hit the police uniform and caused embarrassment to the police officer,” a police report submitted to Eleazar read.
Two other policemen present in the area arrested Zhang and was taken to the nearest police station. (Aaron Recuenco)
