SEN. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito on Wednesday insisted that he has no hidden wealth.
The re-electionist senator turned to social media to deplore the apparent “rehashed” accusation that he allegedly has a secret offshore dollar account.
“It’s political season indeed! Old issues are being rehashed by this circle about so-called hidden wealth,” Ejercito said on his Twitter account.
“Sana nga totoo na meron akong ‘hidden wealth’ para hindi ako hirap na hirap sa campaign funds nang ‘di ako maiwan (How I wish that it’s true that I have hidden wealth so that I’m not having difficulty getting campaign funds),” he said.
He added, “Kung alam lang po sana nila kung gaano kahirap ako ngayon sa paghagilap ng campaign funds (If they only know how hard it is for me right now to look for campaign funds.”
Ejercito admitted that he was even having a hard time raising funds to pay for his political advertisement.
Ejercito is the son of Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada and San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez.
He and half-brother and former senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada are both seeking a seat in the Senate.
Estrada is facing plunder for the alleged misuse of his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or pork barrel.
He is out on bail.
