DAVAO Occidental Cocolife Tigers added Paranaque in their long list of victims, blasting the Patriots, 92-82, in the second phase of elimination of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup held at the Valenzuela Astrodome in Valenzuela City.
The Mindanao team devoured the Patriots from Luzon right from the start to final buzzer to remain solo leader in the south division of the league organized by Senator Manny Pacquiao.
Tigers’ slotman Mark Yee led the charge with another double-double performance of 17 points and 13 rebounds while James Regalado and big man Bogs Raymundo added 14 and 12 respectively.
The Tigers, owned by Claudine Bautista of Davao Occidental LGU backed by Cocolife president Elmo Nobleza, FVP Joseph Ronquillo and AVP Rowena Asnan, nailed their 17th win in 21 outings and padded its lead to trailing Muntinlupa Cagers (12-7) and Batangas City Athletics (12-9).
Davao led as much as 27points (71-44) in the third frame, foiling a miracle comeback by Paranaque that skidded to 8-13 record.
“We are definitely in the right track to our ultimate goal of winning the prestigious title. Our Tigers are determined to go for it,” team manager Ray Alao said.
