TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) said it had completed P82 million worth of concrete roads leading to at least four tourism destinations in the province.
Eng. Lorna Asuten of the DPWH-Second District Engineering Office said the projects would provide tour operators and business owners opportunities for advancement and make tourism destinations in Cagayan more accessible to the public.
The four projects include access road of 1.63 kilometers, leading to Malagabavi Cave-Falls in Pamplona town; access road of 0.90 kilometers, leading to Pata Lighthouse in Claveria town; access road of 1.35 kilometers, leading to Silagan Falls in Allacapan town; and access road of 0.80 kilometers, leading to Dalayap Falls, also in Allacapan town.
At the foot of a mountain, which is said to be shaped like a pig, is the Malagabavi Cave, while the Pata Lighthouse offers a breathtaking view of the seascape and landscape of Claveria town. Two of the many falls in Cagayan province include the Silagan and Dalayap falls.
Asuten said the projects were funded and implemented in collaboration with the Department of Tourism under the Convergence and Special Support Program.
She said making these tourism destination accessible to people would spark economic growth through rural enterprise productivity and would boost the source of income for the locals living around the tourist spots.
“With the completion of the projects, tourists will flock to these tourist destinations and will boost the tourism industry in the province,” Asuten added.
