Kanter finally gets in game, kisses Knicks logo
Center Enes Kanter, who had received four consecutive DNP-CDs, kissed the Knicks logo on the floor upon coming into the game at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
With 5 minutes, 24 seconds left in the third quarter and the Knicks trailing the Dallas Mavericks 74-58, coach David Fizdale brought him in, after a “We want Kanter” chant broke out at MSG.
Kanter waved to the crowd and immediately shot an airball.
Kanter played 9 minutes and finished with 5 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist in the Knicks’ 114-90 loss.
Kanter was told last month that he would becoming off the bench to give younger players a chance.
He voiced his frustration last Wednesday, after he was told he would start and then did not.
“My job right now is just cheer for my teammates and try to be a good teammate, [but] what they’re doing to me is pretty messed up,” Kanter said. “I deserve way better.”
