BRAZILIAN Adriano Moraes escaped Filipino Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio to steal the ONE flyweight world championship belt in a unanimous decision in the main event of ONE: Hero’s Ascent on Friday evening at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
After three matches, a historic first under ONE Championship banner, Moraes returned to the winning column with a gold plated belt on his waist.
Moraes improved his record to 18-3 while Eustaquio dropped to 11-7 slate.
Team Lakay stalwart Danny Kingad saved the day for the Philippines after winning via unanimous decision against Tatsumitsu Wada of Japan in their flyweight contest.
Kingad and Eustaquio’s stablemate, Honorio “The Rock” Banario also suffered a taste of defeat after losing via technical knockout against American Lowen Tynanes due to strikes in 4:46 minutes of Round 1. JEAN RUSSEL V. DAVID
