Police file raps vs Daraga Mayor Baldo

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) officially filed charges against Daraga, Albay Mayor Carlwyn Baldo after he was caught in possession of unlicensed firearms in a search of his home on Tuesday.
The PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Albay Provincial Field Unit filed charges of violation of Republic Act (RA) 9516 or illegal possession of explosive and RA 10591 or the comprehensive firearms and ammunition regulations act before the Albay Provincial Prosecution Office.
Armed with a search warrant, police found two unlicensed cal. 45 pistols and a complete round of 40mm which is being used in M203 grenade launchers at his residence in Barangay Tagas.
He was originally placed under the custody of the CIDG but was rushed to the University of Santo Tomas (UST)-Legazpi after he was reported to have experienced asthma attack and high blood pressure.
He also did not attend his scheduled inquest proceedings on Wednesday noon and submitted a certificate of confinement.
Based on the certificate, Baldo was admitted for bronchial asthma in acute exacerbation, upper respiratory tract infection, and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
PNP Director General Oscar Albayalde has said that it was up to the doctors to decide if the mayor would be detained in the hospital.
