THE Senate on Tuesday abolished the Road Board by adopting the approved version at the House of Representatives.
Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri reported to the plenary that the chamber received a communication from the House informing the Senate that it had approved on third reading a new version of House Bill 7436 abolishing the Road Board.
HB 7436 also provided for the disposition of the funds collected from the Motor Vehicle User’s Charge (MVUC) for road maintenance, improvement of road drainage, installation of traffic lights and road safety devices as well as air pollution control equipment.
“Considering the approval by the House of Representatives yesterday (January 21) of a revised version of House Bill 7436, we move to reconsider the Sept. 12, 2018 adoption of the previous version of the HB 7436,” Zubiri said.
Zubiri said that the Senate adopted on Sept. 12, 2018 a version of HB 7436 as an amendment to Senate Bill 1620.
He also recalled that on that same day the House informed the Senate that it had rescinded its approval on third reading of HB 7436.
No one objected on Tuesday when Senate President Vicente Sotto 3rd asked colleagues whether they wanted to adopt HB 7436.
“There being no objection, the motion is approved,” Sotto said.
