CIDG arrests Daraga mayor for illegal possession of firearms

MANILA, Philippines — Daraga Mayor Carlwyn Baldo was arrested Tuesday after operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) found loose firearms and bullets in his residence in Barangay Tagas in Daraga, Albay.
CIDG-Bicol Director Sr. Supt. Arnold Ardiente said in a phone interview the firearms found in Baldo’s house do not have necessary permits.
Among the firearms recovered were two caliber .45 pistol and its 16 ammunitions, an ammunition for a grenade launcher, a 5.56 ammunition, and an empty magazine of Uzi submachine gun.
Baldo is being tagged as mastermind in the killing of Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe last month. /kga
