Majority of Muslims want Bangsamoro law — SWS

AN overwhelming majority of Muslims nationwide are in favor of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), a survey by Social Weather Stations said.
The SWS recorded 79 percent of Muslims were for the BOL while seven percent opposed the measure.
The remaining 14 percent were undecided.
Seventy-six percent of Muslims also said that the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) was capable of governing the Bangsamoro region while eight percent said otherwise.
The remaining 16 percent were undecided.
There are 38 percent in Mindanao who said that the MILF was not capable of governing the Bangsamoro region, as opposed to 30 percent who voiced confidence in the group.
The remaining 32 percent were undecided.
The BOL is also favored by a majority of adults in Mindanao, at 41 percent as against 31 percent, the same survey said.
The remaining 28 percent were undecided.
Other regions also supported the law, with the Visayas recording the highest at 38 percent as opposed to the 21 percent who did not want it.
Balance Luzon recorded 33 percent of the respondents supporting the BOL against the17 percent opposed to it.
Thirty-seven percent of respondents in Metro Manila voiced support for the BOL while 24 percent opposed it.
The survey results were released on the eve of the plebiscite on January 21.
Another plebiscite will be held on February 6.
The survey was conducted from December 16 to 19, 2018 among 1,440 Filipinos aged 17 years and above.
It had sampling error margins of ±2.6 percent for national percentages, and ±5 percent each for Balance Luzon, Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao.
