MANNY Pacquiao’s mansion in Los Angeles, California was robbed just a few hours ago after he successfully defended his welterweight title against American Adrien Broner.
International matchmaker Sean Gibbons confirmed the reports to The Manila Times on Monday (Sunday in the US), but didn’t elaborate.
“Yes,” Gibbons replied briefly through online interview when asked about the burglary incident. “We just arrived in LA (Los Angeles) and received the news.”
News of the incident was first posted by ABS CBN’s US-based news reporter, Steve Angeles, on Sunday (Monday in Manila) through his Twitter account
“Manny Pacquiao makes his way back to LA. Police are outside his home. Apparently, it’s been robbed while he was out in Vegas,” Angeles posted. “Few of Manny’s advance security are now talking to investigators.”
The Manila Times tried to contact Pacquiao’s other personnel for more details but none of them were available for comment.
Pacquiao and his entourage didn’t go home directly to the mansion in LA after the fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
NBC Los Angeles’s Katherine Picaso reported on Sunday that a citizen had notified the LA Police Department that the robbery happened at the 500 block of N. Plymouth Boulevard in the Larchmont area, said to belong to Pacquiao.
There was a police cordon around the vicinity, and Pacquiao’s staff was in the area.
Celebrity news site TMZ said the police did not provide information on the items stolen or who were involved in the crime. There were signs of forced entry, and the home was ransacked. There were no reports of injuries.
It was the second time that Pacquiao’s house in LA was burglarized. The last time was in September 2011, when four suspects were arrested.
The 40-year-old Pacquiao, a senator, beat Broner via unanimous decision to keep his belt Saturday night.
Saturday’s fight was Pacquiao’s first on the US soil since beating Jessie Vargas through unanimous decision on Nov. 5, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
