‘Amang’ expected to weaken in next 12 hours — Pagasa

Tropical Depression “Amang” is expected to weaken in the next 12 hours, the state weather bureau said.

The tropical cyclone slightly slowed down over the eastern part of Eastern Samar, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said Amang is likely to be downgraded into a low pressure area (LPA) on Monday night.

Signal No. 1 remained hoisted over Sorsogon and Masbate, including Ticao Island, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, and Leyte.

Amang moved 10 kilometers northward and maintained its strength of 45 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds and gusts of up to 50 kph.

It was last spotted 105 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar.

Pagasa warned small vessels to avoid the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and the Visayas. /ee
