7 areas remain under Signal 1 as ‘Amang’ hits Surigao del Sur–Pagasa

SIGNAL 1 remains over seven areas in parts of the Visayas and Mindanao as Tropical Depression “Amang” made landfall in Siargao Island, Surigao del Sur on Sunday night, the state-run weather bureau said.
“Amang” was spotted 70 kilometers (km) north of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte or east northeast of Maasin City, Southern Leyte with maximum sustained winds of up to 45 kilometers per hour (kph), and gustiness of up to 60 kph, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Monday.
It is moving west-northwest at 10 kph.
Affected areas are Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Bohol, Cebu , Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte, Pagasa said.
Moderate to heavy rains will be experienced over eastern and Central Visayas, and in the Bicol region.
Signal 1 has been lifted in Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Camiguin.
The northeast monsoon or “Amihan” continues to affect parts of Luzon.
Partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers may be experienced over Laguna, Bulacan, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon.
Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, and the rest of Metro Manila are expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies.
