MANILA, Philippines — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public against buying or eating five unregistered food products in the market.

In an advisory last Thursday, Jan. 17, the FDA identified the unregistered products as Bonito Soup Stock, Meito Vitamin C Nodoame Mix Fruits 1000mg, Daiso Select Carbonara Sauce, Hammer on Pretzel Garlic Butter Taste, and Daiso Select Sukiyaki Sauce.

“FDA Postmarketing surveillance (PMS) activities have verified that the above-mentioned food products have not gone through the registration process of the agency and have not been issued the proper authorization in the form of a Certificate of Product Registration,” the FDA said.

The agency cited Republic Act 9711 or the FDA Act of 2009 which provides that the manufacture and sale of food products without proper authorization from FDA are prohibited.

It also noted that consumption of violative products may impose potential health hazard to the consuming public.

The FDA warned all establishments concerned not to distribute the unregistered food products until these were covered by the appropriate authorization or product registration.

“Otherwise, regulatory actions and sanctions shall be strictly pursued,” it said.

All local government units and law enforcement agencies were also requested to ensure that the said products are not sold or made available in their localities or areas of jurisdiction. /cbb
