PNP offers help to family of missing UST student

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has urged the parents of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) student, who was reported missing after an immersion with farmers in Quezon province, to coordinate with authorities.
Rizza Divine Camingawan was reported missing in December 2018.
Camingawan’s father, Roland, earlier said that the freshman student had already returned home.
However, according to The Varsitarian, UST’s official student publication, the victim’s mother refuted her husband’s claim.
PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde advised the family of the victim to coordinate with authorities in searching for Camingawan.
“We want to help the relatives of this student so talk to us and we will help you search for your daughter,” Albayalde said.
The incident, Albayalde stressed, only validates the belief of the PNP that some students are being recruited by some communist rebels to join them in toppling the government.
“This is what we’ve been saying before that we have recovered IDs of students during encounters with communist rebels. Some of them are 22, 23 years old who were supposed to be in school but became casualties of this ongoing war against rebellion,” the PNP chief said.
Albayalde called on the parents of the other students who have the same experience to surface and talk to the police.
“If there are other parents who have the same experience, come and talk to us because we are willing to help you in searching for your children,” he said.
Earlier, the National Youth Commission (NYC) appealed to Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials to guide the youths for them not to be tricked into joining rebel groups. (Martin A. Sadongdong)
