MANILA, Philippines — A newspaper posing as The Washington Post has reported the fake resignation of Donald Trump as the United States (US) President.

Washington Post Public Relations said copies of the bogus newspapers are being given to citizens around downtown Washington, noting that they are now looking into the incident.

“There are fake print editions of The Washington Post being distributed around downtown DC, and we are aware of a website attempting to mimic The Post’s. They are not Post products, and we are looking into this,” Washington Post wrote on Twitter last Wednesday.

A Twitter user replied to The Post’s tweet, featuring a photo of the fake newspaper and said “Believable no, but wishful thinking.”

The newspaper, which dated May 1, 2019 as its publication date, had a banner story with the headline of “Unpresidented, Trump Hastily Departs White House, Ending Crisis.”

The banner story also said “surge of protests proves too much for Trump.”

Meanwhile, a report from The Washington Post said Kris Coratti, The Post’s spokeswoman, said they will not tolerate those who misrepresent the news organization.

“We will not tolerate others misrepresenting themselves as The Washington Post, and we are deeply concerned about the confusion it causes among readers. We are seeking to halt further improper use of our trademarks,” Coratti said. /jpv
