DAVAO CITY – Authorities destroyed P63-million worth of confiscated pirated digital versatile discs and paraphernalia here Thursday.
The destruction of the contraband was led by the Optical Media Board along with the Davao City Police Office and Task Force Davao.
An armored personnel carrier of Task Force Davao crushed 440 sacks of contraband outside the DCPO headquarters.
OMB Chairman Anselmo B. Adriano said the contraband came from 20 stalls in the city which they raided last September 2018.
Adriano said the operation was among the Top 5 operation last year in which they seized the most number of pirated DVDs.
“The display of such is to show the public that we enforce the law, that whatever is confiscated, it’s out there individually destroyed,” he said.
Adriano said it took a long time to destroy the pirated DVDs and paraphernalia because they had to summon
their owners. No one answered their call.
He said the operation was just the beginning of their future big-time operations in the city in partnership with DCPO. (Armando Fenequito Jr.)
