The gun used in the killing of bowling national team member 48-year-old Angelo Nathaniel Constantino was not registered, police disclosed Wednesday.
The Philippine National Police-Firearms and Explosives Office said the caliber .45 pistol with serial number 125706 has no record in their database.
Constantino’s assailant left the gun he used at the parking basement of E-Lanes Bowling Center in Greenhills, San Juan City. It was retrieved the next day as it was hidden near the entrance and exit of the parking basement.
The spent shells from the crime scene and the gun recovered matched, the Eastern Police District Crime Laboratory said.
Senior Supt. Dindo Reyes, San Juan police chief, theorized the gunman hid the gun because he was planning to return and retrieve it. He earlier said that fingerprints were found on the caliber .45 pistol.
The bowling gold medalist was shot thrice in the temple on Jan. 11 while he was taking a break on the second floor of E-Lanes Bowling Center around 5 p.m. (Jel Santos)
