POLICE are investigating the death of a man whose body was found chained to a cement block under a bridge in Tondo, Manila, Monday afternoon.

Case investigator PO3 John Bucan described the victim as about 36 to 41 years old, 5’9’’ tall, medium built, fair complexioned, and clad in checkered boxer shorts with no upper garment.

Probers said the victim had been dead for three to five days when he was found.

Investigation showed that one Benny Maco was walking along the bridge over Estero de Vitas on Radial 10 in Tondo when he noticed something floating in the creek at around 3:30 p.m.

He looked closely and saw the feet of the victim.

Maco immediately informed the barangay officials.

Police said no one in the area could identify the victim.

Bucan said the victim’s head was wrapped with clothes while his neck, hands and feet were tied with a cellphone cable, pieces of cloth, and a chain with four padlocks connected to a cement block.

Police said no external injury was found on the body which remained unclaimed at the Archangel funeral parlor as of Tuesday afternoon.

Follow-up investigation is underway to identify the victim, police said. (Erma Edera)
