DOT: Gov’t now accredits 305 hotels, resorts in Boracay

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 305 hotels and resorts have been accredited by the government to operate in Boracay Island almost three months after the island reopened, the Department of Tourism (DOT) announced Tuesday.
In a Facebook post, the DOT said that 10,982 rooms are available for travelers who want to visit the famed tourist destination.

Among the establishments now allowed to operate, the Fairways and Bluewater Resort and the Savoy Hotel in Barangay Yapak have the highest number of available rooms at 700 and 559 rooms, respectively.
Boracay was reopened on Oct. 26, 2018, following a six-month closure to pave the way for major rehabilitation.

Accommodation establishments had to secure permits and clearances from the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources before they could be allowed to operate in Boracay. /jpv
