With great achievements come bigger responsibilities, and that is exactly the mindset of Team Lakay headmaster Mark Sangiao moving forward.
It was a marvelous year for Team Lakay, and Sangiao is confident that his team can rise to the heightened expectations after the fabled stable out of Benguet captured four World Titles under the ONE Championship banner over the past 12 months.
“Right now, we are razor sharp and focused in our training so that we can defend the land and keep the belts in the mountains,” said Sangiao.
Two of Team Lakay’s World Titles in The Home Of Martial Arts are set to be defended this month, with Joshua “The Passion” Pacio taking on Yosuke Saruta at ONE: ETERNAL GLORY on 19 January, and Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio facing Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes for the third time at ONE: HERO’S ASCENT on 25 January.
Sangiao is confident his warriors will be ready for all the challenges ahead.
“A lot of guys are gunning for our World Titles — that’s a given. We will continue to build a strong foundation and improve our skills to keep up with the rest of the fold,” said Sangiao.

Sangiao, known as “The Machine” back when he was still competing, knows that they have no other choice but to double their work in order to keep up with the challenges of being at the top of the heap.
That is not a problem for the 39-year-old, who takes pride in how his team remains hungry amid all their achievements.
“While the rest of the world sleeps, we train, and when the world wakes up, we still train. Hard work, dedication, and learning will bring us success,” said Sangiao.
“The work we put into training camp will dictate our success in 2019. I have the utmost confidence in my team. There is no doubt that we are up for the challenge. We will do our best.”
