THE Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) ended 2018 with a bang as it reported partial sales of P59.4 billion, excluding the revenue from Small Town Lottery (STL) for the month of November to December.

“We are very proud and happy to show you the results of our hard work. Many people tried to discredit the agency’s efforts, my leadership, especially STL, but these figures will tell you otherwise. The agency is earning and soaring high. Thanks to the trust and confidence of our gaming public,” PCSO General Manager Alexander Balutan said.

Data provided by the Gaming, Product Development and Marketing Sector headed by Assistant General Manager Arnel Casas showed that partial revenues of PCSO from January to December registered a whopping P59,432,344,377.63. The agency had set a target of P60 billion.

“Sa STL, baka ma-break natin ang P24 billion this year from P4.7 to 5 billion a year dati. Kasi nag-a-average na ang STL ng P2 billion a month. Tapos from original 18, meron na tayong 84 ASAs (Authorized STL Agents) nationwide, including Visayas at Mindanao. But ang biggest factor sa pagtaas ng revenue natin ay ‘yung trust and confidence ng mga tao. Nakikita nila kung magkano ang kinikita at nalalaman nila kung saan napupunta ang kinikita – sa mga taong lubos na nangangailangan (We may break the STL record and reach P24 billion this year from the P4.7 billion to P5 billion in previous years because now we average P2 billion a month. From 18, we now have 84 ASAs. But the biggest factor in the rise of revenues is the trust and confidence of the people. They can see how much the agency is earning and how the money is being used),” Balutan said.

The PCSO Charter, or RA 1169, provides that the revenue of the PCSO shall be allocated to 55 percent for prize fund (payment of prizes), 30 percent for charity fund and 15 percent for the agency’s maintenance and operating expenses.

Of the P59.4 billion partial gross sales, P31.9 billion came from Lotto and digit games; P4.3 billion from Keno; P21.9 from STL (January to October), P5.8 million from Sweepstakes, and P1.1 billion from Instant Sweepstakes Ticket.

Ultra Lotto 6/58 registered the highest revenue — P7,167,969,460, followed by Grand Lotto 6/55 at P2,728,871,040, Mega Lotto 6/45 at P2,657,748,020, Super Lotto 6/49 at P2,635,813,160, and Lotto 6/42 at P2,272,112,020.
Balutan credited the success of the agency to STL, the second highest earning product.
