Family members of MH17 victims contribute to build a small mosque

KUCHING, Malaysia — Relatives of six MH 17 victims from Kuching have decided to donate the RM1 million (US$243,309) savings for four children and cash aids received to build Al-Ghazali surau (a small mosque).
The family of six on board of MH17 perished in the air disaster on 7 July 2014 where the Malaysia Airlines plane took off from Amsterdam, Netherlands to fly back Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The ill-fated MH17 was shot down where all 283 passengers and 17 crew on board were killed.
Among the 283 passengers, six of them in a family were from Kuching.
Tambi Jiee, 49, wife Ariza Ghazalee, 47 and their four children – Mohd Afif, 19, Mohd Afzal, 17, Marsha Azmeena, 15, and Mohd Afruz, 13 were on their way back from Kazakhstan transiting via Amsterdam.
The family was returning from Kazakhstan, where Tambi, a Shell employee, had been working for about three years.
The relatives still miss the family, four years after the tragedy.
In order to remember them, Ariza`s aunt Salmah Ibrahim decided to donate all savings and cash contributions received for the family to build a small mosque.
In an interview with Sin Chew Daily, Salmah said the donation was to pay tribute to the deceased and contribution made according to Islamic teachings.
Al-Ghazali mosque is located at Lot 189 & 190, Block 17, Salak Land District, Jalan Depo, Petrajaya, Kuching.
