OFFICE for Transportation Security (OTS) personnel held a nationwide protest against the management over lack of benefits.
Senior OTS inspector Liza Abacan said employees were asking the management to give them the benefits they claimed were announced by Malacanang such as annual performance base bonus, leave credit conversion, team building, salary standardization, and P15,000 per year.
The OTS staff, wearing red armbands, aired their grievances after the management failed to give what was due to them.
Abacan added the OTS requested the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for additional budget in 2016 but it fell on deaf ears.
The OTS was created by former president and now Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo through an executive order.
Some employees were former non-uniform personnel under the PNP-Aviation Security Group.
Abacan said that despite the protest, the OTS personnel won’t abandon their posts.
Meanwhile, the Manila International Airport Authority has recruited some 178 security personnel for additional manpower required by US-Transportation Security Administration. BENJIE L. VERGARA
