The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) leadership buckled down to work with the aim of restoring order among the government agency, the various national sports association and the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
PSC chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez was holding talks with the board yesterday to address the perennial problems involving the PSC’s relationship with the NSAs and the POC.
“The PSC would like to see an end to these ages-old concerns, NSAs with leadership and liquidation problems,” said Ramirez as the agency prepares to celebrate its 29th anniversary later this month.
“The PSC has been here almost the last 30 years and we continue to encounter same old problems,” he said.
Ramirez wants the NSAs to shape up given that he has backing from Malacañang to crack the whip of erring NSAs.
“I have specific instructions,” said Ramirez, stressing that the agency is determined to stop financing NSAs that continue to exist despite a myriad of problems.
Still, the PSC won’t stop its support to the athletes, especially that the 2019 Southeast Asian Games will be played here and the country shooting for the overall crown.
This year, Ramirez would also like to upgrade grassroots development.
“This is one matter that the Presidents wants addressed,” he added.
