Developing Mahalta instantly provided jobs for local residents and opportunities for the craftsmen and artisans in the area. Local boatmen are said to have been trained to serve as tourist guides themselves.
Additionally, the resort has a sister company in Mahalta Eco Farm, conceptualized to make the resort self-sufficient.
From a bird’s eye view, putting up a resort surely values as a sound business idea for a good purpose. Its name pertaining to key Mindoro life symbols Mangyan, Halcón (the mountain), and Tamaraw, Mahalta is an integrated resort boasting 14 rooms, with Mangyan staff ready to welcome VIP guests with, yes, Mangyan-weaved sash. Guests can wear Mangyan costumes for a couple of hours to get into the mode, whether you are there for mere leisure or for some business discussion with such backdrop.
“It’s purpose–driven and drawn to local color which is my humble attempt to establish a first-class facility in this part of Mindoro,” said Balita, also a radio-TV host and movie producer.
The stylish entrepreneur started making a name in the review industry back in the early 90s while serving in the faculty of College of Nursing at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. The Carl Balita Review Center is now an accomplished brand trusted by top universities, having consistently produced topnotchers and thousands of passers through the years.
He is the author of the bestselling “Ultimate Learning Guide to Nursing Review” and “Ultimate Testing Guide to Nursing Review, while likewise acting as publisher of various nursing references.
With Mahalta attracting as a place for relaxation for the busy bees and those interested in Mindoro, the 1.5 hectare property initially operates as a hotel with restaurant and pool plus two social halls open for bookings. Next in line: a convention center to accommodate 500 people and single detached villas in the style of log cabins going up the hill.
Balita expressed, “This is my tribute to my beloved home province. The resort is littered with signs and symbols that characterize the Mindoro island.”
