‘Magic on Ice’ heats up holidays, extended till Jan. 6

It never fails to boggle the mind, how sleight-of-hand tricks and optical illusion make, for instance, people disappear from or suddenly appear in cages too small for comfort.

Or consider how a woman’s body is lowered to a spear until the pointed end looks like it has sliced through the woman’s back and heart.

These and other segments are among the attractions in “Magic on Ice,” a world-acclaimed production starring illusionist Steve Wheeler and a cast of agile magician-ice-skaters at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Some of the ice skaters execute dizzying twirls like Olympians, and the show’s soundtrack heightens the thrill and suspense of the disappearing people scenes.

“Magic on Ice” has been extended, with shows on Jan. 4 (7 p.m.), Jan. 5 (2 p.m. and 6 p.m.), and Jan 6 (2 p.m. and 6 p.m.).
