Actor-turned-Manila Rep. John Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto is proposing a one-way traffic flow along both sides of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) to ease traffic congestion in the metropolis.

Under House Bill 8622, the vehicular traffic flow along both sides of EDSA in Metro Manila is mandated to follow a one-way direction in either north or south bound direction as it may deem fit by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
“It is the belief of this representation that this has become necessary as traffic congestion on EDSA continues to worsen despite the different remedies introduced to address the issue,” Nieto said.
He noted that the proposal has constantly been receiving support from the past and present Congress.
“In order to ensure the success of this scheme, the proposed measure empowers the MMDA to choose a counterpart thoroughfare that will form part of a traffic loop in which EDSA is a significant part thereof to be known as the Metro Loop,” he said.

The measure tasks the MMDA to formulate the implementing rules and regulations of the proposed Act.
