Phivolcs in its Tsunami Information No. 3 said that “any effects due to minor sea level disturbances have largely passed” which therefore “canceled recommendations prescribed” in its previous tsunami advisory.
The agency noted that minor waves associated with the earthquake were recorded with a maximum height of 0.08 meter by its sea level monitoring station in Mati, Davao Oriental.
The last recorded wave occurred at 1:10 p.m. (PST) for this station, Phivolcs noted.
“Records show that wave heights have returned to the normal tide level,” it added.
Earlier, Phivolcs issued an advisory which advised the public to temporarily stay away from beaches and not go to the coast after the earthquake./ee
