THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Saturday advised Filipinos planning to travel to Egypt to exercise a higher level of vigilance when visiting tourist destinations there.

The DFA issued the advisory shortly after the Philippine Embassy in Cairo confirmed reports that at least three Vietnamese tourists died and 10 others were seriously wounded in a bomb attack in the Giza Region where the pyramids are located.

Ambassador to Egypt Sulpicio Confiado Jr. said that in addition to tourists, the Embassy’s advisory covers the estimated 5,000 Filipinos residing and working in Egypt.

The state-run Ahram Online reported that the bombing, which took place in Haram district, also claimed the life of an Egyptian tour guide and wounded the driver. JAVIER JOE ESMAEL
