Local flights canceled due to ‘Usman’

MANILA, Philippines — Several local flights were canceled on Saturday due to the inclement weather brought by tropical depression “Usman.”

In an advisory, the Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa) announced the following flights canceled as of 6 a.m.:

In the weather bureau’s latest update, Usman was packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gusts of up to 65 kph.

It was moving west at 15 kilometers per hour (kph), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Pagasa said the tropical depression is yet to make landfall on Saturday morning as it continued to follow a westward course closer to Eastern Visayas.

Moderate to heavy rain is forecast over Calabarzon, Mimaropa, the Bicol Region and Aurora, while light to moderate with at times heavy rain is expected over Metro Manila and the Visayas. /cbb
