‘Usman’ weakens as it nears Eastern Visayas; Signal No. 1 up in more areas–Pagasa

SIGNAL No. 1 remains over parts of Central Philippines although tropical depression “Usman” slightly weakened as it moved closer towards Eastern Visayas, the state-run weather bureau said on Thursday.
Affected areas are: Romblon, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, (including Ticao and Burias Islands), Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Northern Cebu including Camotes Islands, Aklan, Capiz, Northern Iloilo, Northern Negros Occidental, and Dinagat Island.
In the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa’s) 11 a. m. report, “Usman” was last seen 450 kilometers (km) east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte or 440 km east-southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph and moving west at 15 kph.
Fisherfolk and small boats are still advised not to venture out into the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon, and eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon.
