Reds give ‘highest honor’ to Joma Sison on CPP’s 50th anniversary

DAVAO CITY — The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) gave its highest honor to its exiled founder Jose Maria Sison, as its marked its 50th anniversary on Wednesday.
CPP attributed the birth of the underground movement to Sison, and highlighted the group’s revolutionary achievements and victories since its establishment on December 26,1968.
“The Central Committee gives highest honors to Comrade Jose Ma. Sison, the Party’s founding chairman, who masterfully applied Marxism-Leninism-Maoism to the concrete conditions of the Philippines and set the revolution along the correct path and steered it from strength to strength,” the CPP’s Central Committee said in a statement on Wednesday.
Sison, the public figure of the Maoist underground movement in the Philippines, has provided theoretical, socio-historical, and practical insights since he was exiled in 1987 to “guide the Party as well as rouse the international proletariat and people to wage anti-imperialist resistance and socialist revolution,” it added.
Apart from Sison, CPP also paid tribute to their comrades “who gave their all” after serving the Party and the revolution.
“Let us salute all the revolutionary heroes and martyrs who gave their all for the people and served the Party and the revolution to their last breath. It is with their dedication and sacrifices that made possible the revolutionary victories of the Filipino people. Let us be inspired by their examples and emulate their spirit of selfless service,” CPP said.
On its golden anniversary, CPP vowed to wage an all-out resistance to what they termed as Duterte administration’s tyrannical rule and corruption-laden governance, as well as the government’s alleged plan to manipulate and control the 2019 midterm elections.
“Let us celebrate the CPP’s 50th anniversary as we wage all-out resistance against Duterte’s fascist tyranny, corruption and puppetry. The broad masses of workers and peasants suffer from ever-worsening forms of oppression and exploitation, increasingly intolerable poverty and deprivation of the basic needs and services and ruthless fascist attacks and abuses by state armed forces… they are driven to rise up in mass struggles and wage armed resistance,” CPP stressed.
The communist movement also claimed President Rodrigo Duterte has intentionally given the military “absolute powers,” even disclosing the alleged plan of the military to meddle with elections next year “to favor pro-Duterte and pro-military politicians.”
This, it further claimed, is meant and consequently meant “to perpetuating himself (Duterte) in power by installing himself as a dictator through Charter change, which would allow for reelections and a bogus kind of federal system in which powers are centralized in his hand.”
Moreover, CPP slammed government’s claim of defeating the communist armed-wing New People’s Army (NPA) before this year ends or by middle of next year.
“Their claim last year that the NPA will be defeated before the end of 2018 has been frustrated and proven a big lie. This year, they proclaim that the NPA will be completely finished by mid-2019. As in all previous regimes, they keep on moving their impossible deadline. The military will be roundly frustrated as it faces a stronger nationwide force of the NPA that is ever more capable and determined to mount annihilation level of attacks on its weak and vulnerable points,” it said. /kga
