Education Secretary Leonor Briones urged bullied victims in schools to come out or ask any of their friends to report their experience to school authorities.
Briones said this should not be kept secret for so long because the aggressor will tend to abuse them further if they remained silent.
“Report to teacher and to parents. Kund hindi kaya, tell peers who can report to teachers,” Briones told the Manila Times in interview.
Briones’ advice stemmed from one of at least three viral videos of a junior high school student from the Ateneo de Manila University who bullied one of the students by punching and kicking him inside a comfort room.
The attack left the bullied student with a broken nose.
The bully has since been dismissed from the Ateneo. ED VELASCO
