A FILIPINA has won the eighth season of the Romanian version of the talent show “The X Factor” on Sunday (Monday in Manila).

Resciebelle Santiago, or “Bella”, originally from Dasmariñas, Cavite, but now based in the Romanian capital Bucharest, sang a mashup of songs from Beyoncé, specifically “Crazy in Love” and “Love on Top” before clinching her title in the final shows. Coincidentally, she sang “Crazy in Love” during her stint in Showtime’s Tawag ng Tanghalan in the Philippines.

Santiago, mentored by Romanian singer Delia Matache, defeated three other singers (namely Doinița Ioniță, Cristian Moldovan, and Ioana Bulgaru) in the final.

In a Facebook post, Santiago thanked her fans and mentor for their support and making her more Romanian than ever before.

“Thank you very much for your support and for adopting me,” Santiago wrote in Romanian. “After everything that happened last night, I feel more Romanian than I’ve ever been, and that’s because of you, you’re wonderful.”

Santiago participated in Pinoy Pop Superstar and Tawag ng Tanghalan and finished runner-up at a talent show in Taiwan before moving to Romania with her boyfriend.

In Romania, Santiago took part in Romania’s Got Talent and attempted to represent the country in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, which was held in Portugal.

She got married to Romanian Nicolas Grig at a ceremony earlier this month. ARIC JOHN SY CUA
